Reader's Workshop is a research-based approach that addresses the needs of all students.
The workshop begins with a whole-class mini lesson that lasts between 10-15 minutes. You will see me explicitly model a strategy or a skill. After the lesson, the students will read independantly with their "good fit" books. You will see me conferring with students to make sure they are all successful at the strategy and at picking a book that meets their needs and interests. You may also see me taking a Guided Reading group during this time. The last 10 minutes of Reader's Workshop is dedicated to sharing. Students may choose to share about the skill, a connection they made, an interesting fact, or an opinion they have about the book.
